Single vision lenses have one prescription across their entire surface. They are used to correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. The choice of single vision lenses is dependent on the prescription.
These lenses address more than one prescription across the surface and are constructed so the changes in the prescription are not visible (also called no-line bifocals.) The power gradually changes from distance at the top down to close up and reading powers at the bottom.
Our Opticians provide the latest Multifocal Digital Lens Technology for optimal lens performance.
Trifocals have three sections. A distance section at the top, a middle lined section for mid range and lower lined section for up close vision
Computer or Office Lenses
Some lenses are specially designed for specific functions, as opposed to regular, everyday use. For example, keeping pace with the Internet revolution, Nikon has developed advanced reading lenses for both near and intermediate vision. Occupational lenses such as Nikon Online are uniquely designed for office and computer use as well as other sustained near-vision activities.
Specialty lenses are available for vocations and activities such as hobbies, music and shooting.
Optical technology continues to improve creating thinner, light weight lenses which are valuable to the aesthetics and visual performances of high prescriptions. High Index Lenses are available in 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 indexes in most single vision and multifocal lenses. The higher the index the thinner and lighter the lenses. These are significant properties to those who are nearsighted or farsighted since it reduces edge thickness and the “coke bottle” look.
Our lenses are available with a number of optional coatings, customized to your needs. Coatings include anti-reflective, scratch-resistant, anti-fog, and UV protection. Coatings help protect your eyes and increase the durability of your glasses. At Port Perry Optical we work with you to match your needs to the available optical coatings.
